Women’s tour cycling event

10 July 2017

On Wednesday 7th June, ten girls were selected to be part of the leading ride out group for the OVO Energy Women’s Tour cycle race which departed on its first stage from Daventry town centre.

In addition to the girls getting this wonderful opportunity to be with the huge crowds and ride part of the route, we had an important person there too. Year 9 student Emma Stanyon won a competition to design a flag, which she would use to start the race.

At 11.00 am Emma, with TV and Radio media all present, started the race with her flag. It was such a wonderful occasion and something that will live on in the memories of Emma and all the riders from DSLV that day.

Well done Emma and all the girls that took part in the start of this prestigious event.
