Clubs & Societies
At DSLV we are proud of our extra-curricular clubs and societies and there are a variety to choose from. If there is club or society that you would like to join but is currently not available, why not speak to staff member to help get it set up.
Greenpower club is open to all year groups. Students work to improve our electric racing car with the aim of competing with other schools. They learn about aerodynamics, work with materials to fabricate components and try strategies to save weight in an attempt to make the car faster.
Fashion club is an opportunity for students to develop their textiles knowledge by experimenting with designs, materials and techniques. They complete a range of design challenges, coming up with their own designs and trialling different methods. A perfect blend of Art and Textiles, this creative club is ideal for students interested in Textiles design.
This club gives KS3 students the opportunity to develop their practical cooking skills. They complete a range of cooking tasks to learn about different ways to cook high-quality meals and experiment with flavour, texture and presentation.
German Club runs on a Thursday after school each week and is open to students from Years 7 and 8. We learn German in an informal manner, using a variety of activities and games, building our knowledge of the German language and culture. No previous knowledge is required.
All music extra curricular clubs run during lunch times and are on various days.
Guitar club – students learn how to play chords on the guitar and play as an ensemble developing their confidence and ability to work with others
Keyboard Club – can be in pairs or on their own. This is an opportunity to develop their knowledge or learn how to play the keyboard / piano by reading western notation. Students can use their phones to access music they want to learn or they can use music that is available within the department.
