Enrichment

Enrichment enhances the curriculum and allows it to be placed in the wider context of the world we live in.

The aim of enrichment is to inspire certain qualities of mind. These include problem solving, team-work, creative thinking, initiative and self-direction, discovery, higher order thinking skills, profound personal interests, self-acceptance, an understanding and experience of culture and the courage to make a difference.

The objective of enrichment is to:

  • Widen students’ intellectual experiences
  • Improve independent learning skills
  • “Light a fire” within students
  • Offer them the opportunity to study a variety of options of their choice in something they would not have had a chance to study otherwise.

DSLV’s programme offers students the opportunity to take part in activities which are beyond the confines of normal examination curriculum. Our enrichment offer will provide students with the opportunity to take part in activities that develop academic, social and practical skills, creative flair and the chance to work within the community.

Students can not only take part in sporting clubs and represent the academy in their chosen activity, but they could take part in one of our numerous musical clubs and go on to play a key role in annual theatrical productions.
